You don’t need to list all your interests, just the ones that are most relevant to the position to which you are applying. So you can just focus on your interest in water training your dogs, since it is related to the job and will show your experience in handling animals.

Those are good interests and they sound like fun! I don’t think you should lie. They might sound not very exciting to you, but to others they might sound really interesting. I don’t think you need to add in more, but if you want you could put in anything else you like to do. Cooking, reading, writing, tv, movies, pick nicks, BBQs camping, going to the _______, etc.

Do you mean without pay? I think that might not be legal. Do you have a professor or teacher in the vet college you are going to, or have gone to? Perhaps check with them about what is customary. I just think the labor board would not allow them to take an apprentice without pay, but I’m not in the field.

The most important question will be is what will you contribute to the business. Do you have special schooling or do you do a procedure that will benefit them if they hire you. You could offer to work for free. Kind of an apprenticeship that your pay will be work experience. I’m thinking they probably won’t go with that because of insurance purposes, but it couldn’t hurt to ask. Good luck.

Depending on your situation and which kind of job perhaps too, you could emphasize the potential positive aspects of having no prior experience: you have not gotten bad work habits from a previous place, you’re open to this company’s work approach with no prejudiced bagage, you have a degree fresh in hand and know about the latest theories / developments within the field….etc. Good luck.

Sure you do, your experience might not have been formal, or paid, but it is experience. Your school work, as it would affect any job first, then leave room for school studies that would affect whatever specific job.

Play up all of the positives, it is the truth after all, and one thing the Boss likes to see is that you know what IS positive, and you have enough ambition to achieve it. Don’t bother with negatives, the Boss doesn’t need to know what you can’t do, he is looking for whatever you CAN do.

Look at yourself the way you believe the Boss would look at you.
Picture yourself as the owner of a business, you have X amount of job openings for the summer, you probably have 3X amount of applicants for these jobs. Try to think what he wants the most and how your experiences meet that need. Then what he needs the second most, and the third. If you lay it out in that order, then he also knows that you are trying to meet the needs of his workplace.

He is in business to make money, so you need to let him know that you can make the money for him.
